Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

A Bit About Sophie

Hello, I’m Sophie! I am a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist who completed a Masters in Speech and Language Sciences in 2016 from University College London. I am registered with the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) and Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT). I have worked for the NHS for the last 6 years. During this time, I have worked with children aged 0-19 years. I have gained experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Developmental Language Disorder, speech sound disorder and delay, Selective Mutism and children with a stammer. I have completed training in Hanen – ‘Learning Language and Loving It’ and I am Makaton trained. I have also completed Selective Mutism training with Maggie Johnson. My main area of interest is working with children who have a stammer. I have completed postgraduate courses via the Michael Palin Centre (Parent-Child Interaction; Working with 15-18s who Stammer) and the Lidcombe Programme. I have experience working in a variety of different settings including clinics, children’s centres and clients’ homes. During my time with the NHS I spent a lot of time working in mainstream schools and nurseries where I enjoyed supporting school staff and families to enhance children’s speech, language and communication skills through a total communication approach. I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of my job and I am passionate about working with children and their families, creating bespoke therapy approaches. I am keen to ensure that speech and language therapy is a fun, happy experience for your child with positive and lasting outcomes. When I’m not working I love spending time with my family and friends, traveling and baking!
