A Bit About Louise

Hi, I'm Louise one of our clinic/community therapists! I graduated from Manchester University in 2020 and have been working for RP SaLT for almost three years now. Before working for RPSaLT I worked within a special educational needs setting where I loved supporting older children and young people with their communication skills. I am specialised in Selective/Situational Mutism, and completed several additional Selective Mutism masterclasses with Maggie Johnson in 2024, this is a massive passion of mine - I can talk anyone's ear off about it if they let me! I also typically work with school age children right into high school age on their speech, language and social communication needs with a particular interest in Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). I believe it's so important to find those children who may have fallen through the cracks and ensure they have the right support so they can excel to their full potential and gain confidence whilst doing it. I’m passionate about working with parents, educators and young people themselves to create therapy targets that work for them. I believe every young person can find a way of communicating that suits them and am grateful to be on this journey with families. I know that supporting children with additional needs whilst amazing can be a confusing and scary time for parents so I make it a point that every parent is informed of their child's SaLT needs thoroughly and why targets have been chosen and am always available to answer questions or worries parents may have along the way. When not working, you can find me at home reading or cross stitching curled up with my dog, Dougie or taking a quick weekend getaway with my best friends.
