Hello, I’m Jen, and I'm a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant at Rebecca Pearson. I graduated from Liverpool John Moores University in 2012 with a Social Work degree and I began my professional journey as a children and families Social Worker, delivering assessments and support to families across Liverpool. I took a career break from social work when my son was diagnosed with multiple medical conditions and learning disabilities. During this time, I researched, studied, and collaborated with professionals to support my son. My passion for aiding children with diverse needs evolved and for the following ten years I took on the role of an interventions worker, working in both senior schools and early years. During my time working with 11-16 year olds, I specialised in supporting children with ASD, ADHD & Aspergers syndrome. I delivered self confidence classes and one to one support in classrooms or base units. For the last five years I have worked predominantly within early years and offered tailored support to children who presented with social and communication difficulties. I am level 4 qualified in Makaton and hold Level 2 qualifications in ASD and ADHD. My role at Rebecca Pearson allows me to work with children and their families, supporting children with speech sound and social and communication difficulties offering both, play & evidence-based therapies. I provide therapy in clinic, homes, schools and nurseries using a variety of strategies. I always strive to enhance my knowledge and skills to offer the best support to my families. When I'm not working you will find me in the kitchen baking cakes or spending time with my three lovely boys!
