Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist

A Bit About Me

Hello, I’m Louisa!
I am a specialist paediatric speech and language therapist and a member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).  I have an extensive background as a therapist having worked in numerous independent and NHS settings across the North West of England.
I have 13 years’ worth of experience in working with children aged 1-19 with a wide range of speech, language and social communication difficulties. I enjoy working with all communication needs but have a special interest in Autism Spectrum Disorder, particularly teenagers and often under-diagnosed females with social communication needs.  I also have a strong interest in working with children who stammer and have completed a number of post-graduate training courses via the Michel Palin Centre (Parent-Child Interaction; Supporting 8-14s who Stammer; Working with 15-18s who Stammer) and the Lidcombe Programme. I also love working in mainstream schools and particularly supporting staff in EYFS settings to boost their skills in speech and language input to support childrens’ language development universally within their settings.
My favourite aspect of being a therapist is working closely with children, young people and their families to create tailored approaches to meet their needs and develop their skills to communicate to the best of their abilities.  I believe that every child matters and that every child deserves a chance.
In my spare time I love music, watching football, and spending quality time with my family.
